Course Introduction
“Appreciative Inquiry” is a positive change management approach within the current field of management that is focused on inspiring, mobilizing, and exploring strengths. It begins by discovering the strengths of the organization and its members (core competencies and strategic advantages) and ensures active engagement of stakeholders in designing the future, ultimately leading to significant improvements in organizational effectiveness. Robert Quinn, a senior professor at the University of Michigan, referred to its application in the field of management as a “revolution in the field of organizational development.”
Leaders in Appreciative Inquiry do not approach change from the perspective of problems but instead seek to uncover and enhance the “positive aspects” of subordinates and teams from the angle of creating possibilities, bringing about creative change.
